Clynelish
Although established in 1819, today’s Clynelish Distillery dates back 1968. As histories go, the Clynelish story cannot be told without mentioning its predecessor, its sister, a lost classic, the Brora Distillery. Brora, the original Clynelish, was decommissioned with the building of its larger, more modern and efficient sibling.
Aside from having a larger capacity, Clynelish was actually constructed to produce the same new-make spirit – stills were constructed using the same design and water was sourced from the same Clynemilton Burn.
As a spirit, Clynelish is widely regarded as one of the true darlings of whisky by the finest palates in the industry, including master blenders and other distillers. At its heart, Clynelish has a highly distinctive fragrant waxy characteristic resulting from an unusual distilling process where the natural oily compounds build up in the feints receiver. The spirit is complex, fragrant, viscous, and fruity. It is an outstanding single malt with a truly unique flavour and history.
