Pulteney
A great example of how far the Highland region can stretch, the Pulteney distillery lies on one of the most northerly points of mainland Scotland, near the town of Wick and this makes it Scotland’s furthest north mainland distillery.
Founded in 1826, this is a classic costal malt, carrying a lightness of salt to it which adds an extra dimension of flavour and complexity enhanced by the extreme reflux that happens in the cleverly designed stills.
Closed for a two decade period from 1930, it is now fully operational and highly regarded with many fans around the world.
