Strathmill
Another distillery which found its home in the important town of Keith is Strathmill, situated on the banks of the River Isla (not to be confused with ‘Islay'), away from the main roads of the town itself.
The distillery started life as Strathisla Mills in 1823. In 1891 the mill was rebuilt as a distillery called Glenisla-Glenlivet.
In 1895 it was purchased by W & A Gilbey and renamed Strathmill. It is rare to find single malt bottlings of Strathmill, which is famed in the industry for a lighter spirit that carries a wonderfully rich flavour when aged well in quality casks.
